What would happen if your facility lost its data tomorrow? When your patient data is lost, it’s too late to think about secure data storage and replication.

FOR STORAGE AND DISASTER RECOVERY, YOU’RE BETTER OFF OFFSITE.

There are many unpredictable events that may risk the integrity of a PACS server or your stored data. In addition to fire, flood and natural disasters, unexpected power outages, technical glitches or human error can result in days or weeks of downtime. How long can you afford your system to be down before it’s up and running with the data consistency you require?

Storing images on CDs, external hard drives, or pushing them to a third party won’t solve the problem if you don’t have the system support. With OffSite Image Management Inc. (OIM), you can have a solution that enables you to securely store, manage and view your exams from any web enabled device – even when your PACS is down.

Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT IS YOUR POLICY FOR DISASTER RECOVERY (DR) IN CASE OF COMPLETE OR PARTIAL DATA LOSS?

At Offsite, we provide real time data replication. Customers have 24/7 access to all data and are able to migrate information back to their facility with one click.

What is your policy for Business Continuity (BC) in case of PACS failure?

In addition to data back-up, OffSite provides fully functional PACS to its customers. In the case of local PACS failure, your organization can shift all its resources to OffSite’s web solution. Modalities can forward data directly to Offsite servers. In the case of a complete disaster, this data can be made available to other organizations to facilitate continuity of care. This is part of our Patient Image Exchange (PIE).

How much downtime can you afford before suffering significant financial consequence?

It is estimated that healthcare organizations can lose up to $640,000 per hour when disaster strikes and data is lost – in addition to critical risks to patient care and health. (Source: Health Care Technology). If data is an IT department’s lifeblood, an hour of data loss is like hitting the jugular vein! Through our Business Continuity solutions , your radiology department won’t experience downtime. Many of our client hospitals who have switched all of their ER radiology viewing to OffSite can now view/read their exams on mobile devices, such as an iPad, during a disaster. Surgeons and practitioners are able to view their patients’ radiology exams on the go, making them more prepared when arriving at the hospital.

Do you expect to pay for data migration when upgrading your PACS?

Because of our Vendor Neutral solutions we do not charge any additional migration fees to our customers.

What are your plans regarding Vendor Neutral Archiving (VNA)?

Approximately 5.4% of 1.4 billion radiology studies captured by PACS last year were stored in a VNA. That figure is expected to increase to approximately 31% by 2019. Much of this is driven by the hospitals’ desire to eliminate a host of vendor related fees and an interest in the ease of use and the safety in data sharing. Offsite Image Management, Inc. is built on a 100% vendor neutral platform.

Who is in Control?

The ultimate control of the data is a key concern when discussing radiology data storage and exchange. Rural hospitals and other healthcare organizations understand the importance of sharing and storing this data, but confusion over ownership has a number of regulatory implications related to privacy and HIPAA. When data is linked directly to a software vendor or server, complete ownership and control of that data comes into question. Only with a vendor neutral software is it guaranteed that this data is fully owned and controlled by the healthcare provider, allowing multiple systems access as needed and approved. And, with the right provider, data is stored securely with unlimited access to ensure the continuity of patient care.

DICOM exchange of radiological data across various vendor platforms has become a necessity in order to facilitate critical data exchange within the healthcare community. But only a handful of providers can offer this format.
