Dr. Holt is quoted in the article as saying, “more important are the intangible savings to the patient, such as less time off from work and less anxiety.” As more and more healthcare professionals embrace value-based care, the interest in DBT and 2D mammography as a combined method will be of greater interest.

Clinical evidence continues to stack up, proving that DBT is a superior form of imaging. For facilities continuing to embrace 2D mammography, their placement among competing providers with DBT will lag.
