Overview
iQ-WEB features a comprehensive user management system that allows administrators to create individual user accounts, assign them to user groups, and grant specific viewing and system privileges.
Prerequisites
- You must be logged into the iQ-WEB web interface using an Administrator account.
Step 1: Navigate to User Management
- Log into the iQ-WEB web interface.
- Go to the SETTINGS tab in the main menu bar.
- Select Users from the sub-menu.
- Locate the User account section and click the button to Add a new user.
(Note: If you need to create a new Administrator, you must do this under the separate Administrator Accounts section.)
Step 2: Configure User Information
In the account creation form, fill out the basic login credentials.
- User Name: Enter a unique username (maximum of 32 characters).
- Password: Enter a secure password. Important: The password must not contain a backslash (
), a single quote ('), or a double quote ("). - Allow user/group to change his password: Keep this checked if you want the user to be able to manage their own password (highly recommended if passwords are set to automatically expire).
- LDAP Users Only: If your iQ-WEB is integrated with an LDAP server (like Active Directory), you will also see fields to map the First Name, Last Name, Middle Name, and Email Address.
Step 3: Assign Group Membership (Optional)
If you utilize User Groups for your institution (e.g., to share viewing access among a specific department), you can assign the new user to one or more groups.
- Locate the Group Membership section.
- Check the boxes next to the User Group(s) this account should belong to.
Step 4: Configure General Privileges
The privileges you grant dictate what the user can see and do within the PACS.
1. General Privilege Settings:
Check the boxes for the features the user needs. The most critical privileges include:
- View: Required to view private patients/studies. Without this, users can only see public studies or private studies where they are specifically listed as the Referring or Reading Physician. (recommended to be enabled for all radiology department and ER users)
- Modify: Required to change database attributes, edit demographic information, or manually assign a study to a physician.
- Download / Export / Print: Grants the ability to pull images out of the PACS.
- Create WADO Link: Allows the user to securely share studies via web links.
Step 5: Save the Account
Once all information and privileges are configured, scroll to the bottom of the page and click the button to save/create the user.
Appendix: Understanding User Categories (Best Practices)
When assigning privileges, iQ-WEB documentation recommends structuring standard users into two main categories:
- Power Users: These accounts have the View and Modify privileges enabled. They have full access to all public and private patient studies in the database and have the authority to alter or delete existing records.
- Regular Users (Referring/Reading Physicians): These accounts do not have the "View" permission enabled. These users are restricted to seeing only public studies, or private studies where their exact Last Name and First Name matches the Referring or Reading Physician DICOM tags for that specific study.
