Maintenance

  1. Restart the workstation, hardware,  once a week.

  2. Restart the IQ View software once a day.

  3. Purging rules do not kick in unless software is restarted.

  4. Keep an eye on your hard drive storage in the right lower corner.

  5. Keep an eye on the server status also in the right lower corner.

  6. Make sure that the workstation is only used under a single Windows user profile.

Workflow

  1. All studies stored on the local workstation can be viewed under the “Database” tab.

  2. All studies stored on the PACS or on other connected servers can be viewed under the “Network” tab.

  3. When in the “Network Tab” check the status column of an exam, if it shows “Local” this means that the exam is already stored on the local workstation.

  4. If you are not able to locate the exam, clear your “Search” filter settings.

  5. Use wild cards “*” to broaden your search criteria.

  6. “Filesystem” is used to import external CDs.

  7. “Modify”  is used to modify patient DICOM data, and also to query MWL and merge patients.

  8. “Import”  is to import scanned paperwork and other files.

  9. Paperwork can be scanned using two options:

  1. Within the “Import” query the modality worklist. Use worklist entries to label  the scanned paperwork.  Upon completion of the process the paperwork will merge with the associated exam.

  2. Select an exam. Drag and drop the exam into the “Import” window.  Scan paperwork.

  1. Once paperwork is scanned you are able to send it to any destination before leaving the Twain window.

  2. “Log” in the left lower corner allows you to monitor exam transfer to and from any provided destination.

  3. Under “Log”  the “Jobs Status” tracks the progress of an exam during the transfer.

  4. Under “Log”  the “Process Log” provides details of the DICOM transaction and communication between two applications.

  5. “Export”  is used to Burn CDs and export data to other locations including a thumb drive.

  6. When burning a CD make sure to

          1. Uncheck “Include JPEG images” unless specifically requested.

          2. Check “Check medium after creation”

          3. Yes, you may burn more then one exam at once.

Troubleshooting

1. Unable to locate the exam:

a. Make sure to “Clear Entries” for the search criteria.

b. Add wild cards “*” to your search criteria

c. Search “Network” by selecting a proper storage device.

2. If you receive an error while modifying an exam, and are not able complete the modification then check “Convert character set”and try again.

3. After exam is modified make sure to “Export” it to other relevant destinations and primarily to the PACS server.

4. Users may NOT modify exams under the “Network”.

5. There are two ways to check modality worklist status:

a.  On the workstation go to “Modify” .  When under “Modify DICOM header data”

select    the second icon from the left “DICOM modality worklist”

b. On the workstation go to “Import” .  Select “DICOM Modality worklist”

6. If exam transfer fails please check the associated DICOM connection “Echo” .

a. If the Echo fails then contact your local network administrator.

b. In some instances, when testing Echo from the modality to PACS or the workstation,

there is a chance that Echo will fail.  This is due to certain “Coercion” rules in place

                                 for exam routing.

7. Not able to burn a CD:

a. Using a DVD (rather than a CD) is recommended when burning very large exams (e.g. 3D MG or CT

                                          Angiography).

b. Make sure you have enough space available on your CD.

8.  The workstation is not receiving any more exams, and/or the sender is getting an error that the hard drive is

     full.

  1. Check hard drive space status

  2. If full (Red Color) restart the IQ View software so purging rules may clear the data.

  3. Also, it is recommended to revisit purging rules and adjust them accordingly.

  4. Purging rules are found under “Server Administration”   and

9. Workstation is not receiving any data, not able to query worklist and not able to modify exams:

a. Check the server status If “RED” workstation has stopped functioning.

                  b. Click on the server status indicator and restart the server

c. Or go to “Server Administration”  and

10. Images on the PACS are “noise” after sending an exam with the paperwork.

a. Make sure that no more than a one user profile is using the workstation.  Multiple profiles

using the workstation client software will cause corruption and duplication of the data

  with “noisy” images.

b. Check transfer syntax

c. Delete the exam from the workstation and resend it from the modality.  Repeat the process.

d. If the issue persists inform support in order to review associated logs.

Note: The server administration and management require Administrative rights on the workstation.

Note: For the Viewer related tips please refer  to  the IQ -VIEW quick guide.

Note: For additional instructions please refer to your workstation manual in the upper, right-hand corner
